I went back and forth on what I wanted to do for Black Friday through Cyber Monday, but I've finally settled on offering ALL of my ebooks for $.99. Good because it wasn’t likely they’d accidentally run into someone in the wrong place at the wrong time, and bad because if they did run into someone they wouldn’t have an excuse to explain their presence. They walked past their target and turned down an alley a couple of buildings away after Kristy was sure no one was paying attention to them. She pulled Felicity back into a doorway as a bored armed guard sauntered by them. She tried to make out his patch to see what type of guard or police he was, but couldn’t see it clearly from their current hiding place. Hardly any of the buildings were higher than one story so she set their path to head to the few multi-story buildings. The night barely hid the wear and tear the city had endured over the years. The mining companies obviously hadn’t invested their profits in keeping the town looking nice. Small puffs of dust came up from the sidewalks from each of their footfalls as they moved down the line of buildings. Several people darted nervous glances in their direction. “We should be blending in more,” Kristy said, her senses already telling her something was wrong on Mecha. “Maybe they know something’s up and are wary of strangers,” Felicity guessed, edging a little closer to Kristy. “Maybe,” she said, she hoped not, it was never ...

There was more profit to be had by not being on a most wanted list. The MSA didn’t go to the trouble of tracking down a single ship for smuggling. They focused their attention on the consortiums and the privateers. Which meant it had to be about her. She didn’t like that idea any better and would have preferred a different conclusion. They were cutting his hatch to pieces with a torch. He’d almost made it to the bridge when he heard the unmistakable sound of metal ripping and a huge crash. They’d gained entry. There was a second of silence as he spun to face the new threat. He hesitated and lost his chance to get to the bridge as a shadow moved in the opening. It would take a full minute to warm up the Marauder ’s engines. He opened one of his crew’s quarters and placed himself in the doorway on one knee raising the rifle to his shoulder and waiting for the first one to come through the door.
