Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday - Unicorn Keep by Angelia Almos
Unicorn Keep by Angelia Almos
Unicorn Keep is my new young adult fantasy about Jiline who switches places with her best friend, Madelen, to become a unicorn keeper. Coming out on April 30th.
Madelen snorted. “You’re just as pure as I am. Whatever the heck that means.”
“Obviously not.”
“You’d probably like it.”
“What?” Jiline released the hug and leaned against the wall.
“Being a keeper. Taking care of the...unicorns.”

Interesting requirements for being a keeper!
ReplyDeleteYou gotta be special in some way otherwise everyone could do it. :-)
DeleteGlad I'm not in the running... :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat snippet, and definitely one that should be on everyone's YA list.
Thanks TM.
DeleteI want to be a keeper! I'm glad we won't have to wait long for this. April 30th - very exciting!
ReplyDeleteMe to.
DeleteYeh, that's two days away! Congrats on your release!! Looking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, TK.
DeleteUnicorns?! She makes it sound like some forbidden knowledge in that last line. Good snippet! Definitely draws the reader in a bit more with that short exchange.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the requirements are to be a keeper of quadracorns?
I believe many of the various deers and sheep fill the multi-horn animal need. It's the animals with a single horn which are special. ;-)
DeleteI love the snippet! It's intriguing to find out how she will be able to be a keeper under false pretenses. I look forward to this one!
ReplyDeleteThat will become Jiline's main concern very shortly.
DeleteLoving this story! Good luck with the release! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gayle.
DeleteA question that occurs to me. Is it the unicorns or the person in charge of the unicorns that do the selecting?
ReplyDeleteThe mages choose the candidates and the unicorns choose the actual keepers.
DeleteI wonder how their culture defines purity. o.O
ReplyDeleteIntriguing! Interested to see how Jiline comes to trade places with Madalen...and to curious as to how they (the unicorns) define purity.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she'll regret giving up the keeper job?
ReplyDeleteIt's very clear that Madelen isn't flattered by the choice. Congrats on your release.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by everyone.
