In this snippet, Cassia is outside the protection of her castle walls with only her personal guard, Maconahay, and Kali to protect her. Torr is the prince of Vespera and just arrived unexpectedly with two men.
***
One of the men next to Torr shifted with a grunt and Maconahay stepped so he was blocking her again.
Torr gestured to the man. “He’s not a threat, Captain. My friend, Alan, is upset on my behalf. He's the one who stopped my father’s assassination attempt.”
“What?” Cassia stepped around Maconahay. His shoulders moved in the irritated gesture he did whenever she didn’t listen to him. “Erich tried to kill you?”
“It was made to look like someone from Karah was behind the attempt, but I’m fairly certain you didn’t send an assassin, did you, Princess?”

Look, lots of intrigue in that snippet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pippa.
DeleteProtective men...gotta love those Alpha males. :)
ReplyDeleteNice banter!
She's surrounded by them. ;-) Much to her annoyance.
DeleteAh, political intrigue! Gotta love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patrick.
DeleteLot's of intrigue and developments. And I always love the flow your dialogue; I can picture each scene perfectly.

DeleteThis is interesting...as they say, the plot thickens!! Good stuff!!
ReplyDeleteThanks TK.
DeleteHmmm... If she's queen now, why is he still calling her Princess? Enjoyed Unicorn Keep, BTW. And I'm here--just forgot to sign up.
ReplyDeleteHis slip of the tongue. Corrected later. Thank you Sue Ann on Unicorn Keep, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteGoing to be fairly awkward if the answer to the question is yes. :-)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it though? :-)
DeleteWell she wouldn't very well answer yes to that question, would she?
ReplyDeleteKnowing Cassia, she probably would. :-)
